Thanks to Kotaku’s English translation, Iwata’s interview revealed that the DS’s successor will boast much better graphics and possibly even Natal-style motion capture:

Unfortunately, because the DS is still selling so well and had a record year in 2009, the Nintendo boss was reluctant to talk further about their next handheld, however Iwata did say that they are looking to increase the number of hotspots available for travelling DS users and are currently in talks with companies to expand their reach. This will mean gamers will be able to download demos and other content to their DS’s in more places other than just McDonalds.
As far as the Wii is concerned, Iwata stated that Wii sales last year dropped, however the console has been the biggest selling over the last three years and reiterated the importance of releasing more quality software to support the hardware.
There will be a press conference in July detailing the vitality sensor and the interview stated that the new Zelda Wii will be releasing sometime in 2010, though it is unkown in which territories.
Great news all round especially if the new handheld has Gamecube-style graphics and Zelda Wii does not get pushed back like so many other Zelda titles have in the past.
