It seems all the whispers and speculation about Nintendo re-releasing the Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Wii were true after all.
The original Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes from the Gamecube and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption from Wii will be found all cuddled up on the same disc, acccording to Kotaku. Of course this time round the first two games in the series will include the new motion (or should I say ‘new play’ controls) in addition to new graphical effects, 16:9 widescreen support and faster door-loading times. Excellent.
The ‘unlockables’ system that we saw in Metroid 3: Corruption will also be present in all three titles in this special release. This entitled players to view special concept art and listen to soundtracks as a way of an achievement system.
North America can expect the game to hit shelves on August 24th for $49.99, while Europe and Australia will have to wait for an announcement regarding a PAL release which will surely only be a matter of time though.
Let’s hope that this is a precursor for Nintendo announcing metroid Prime 4 sometime soon!
