Black Wii Box

We already know a black Wii console is coming to Japan August 1st and we’ve seen images of the Monster Hunter 3 pack Nintendo will be releasing with Capcom. Now we get to see what the packaging will be like for the new coloured console. It’s… er… black! Very similar to the white box but darker, meaner and leaner. Actually it’s not leaner at all but it rhymed.

Still no word yet that the rest of the world will be getting new Wii colours any time soon, but surely it’s only a matter of time. We reckon the black Wii has to be one of the best looking consoles ever made and if we had more money than sense may even consider trading in our trusty white one for the black model.

Having said that Nintendo need to make some black Wii MotionPlus add-ons, otherwise we’ll just look silly!

Metroid Trilogy

All this move towards digital downloads is very nice and dandy but there’s nothing like the feel of a nice new packaged game in your hands is there? Being even bigger fans of Retro’s Metroid Prime trilogy than we are of game boxes, makes this packaging even more desirable. This is what you can expect to pick up from your favourite game retailer when the trilogy is released. The limited edition casing is made from metal and also includes a special ‘Metroid Prime Trilogy’ artbook.

Obviously the disc inside will contain the original Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes from the Gamecube as well as Metroid Prime 3: Corruption from Wii. This time round the first two games in the series will include motion controls as well as beefed up graphics, 16:9 widescreen support and faster door-loading times.

North America can expect the game to hit shelves on August 24th for $49.99, Europe and Australia are still waiting for a release announcement.

Back of packaging after the break and some lo-res screens here.
