Though the recent Call of Duty games on Wii have been pretty decent, I think it’s fair to say they took second place to the PS3 and 360 versions. With Call of Duty: Black Ops, developers Treyarch look to buck that trend. They spoke with Official Nintendo Magazine and had this to say:
“What we want to be able to do is create the most intense, the most cinematic ‘you can’t believe this is running on the Wii’ situation that you could imagine. That’s what people expect from Call Of Duty. They expect to be blown away. We’re going to blow you away.” – Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia

“We do whatever we can to make the two as similar as possible. The expectation is ‘that game on that platform’, even though we know objectively the platform is not the same. Whereas we’re able to create the same assets that can be used on PC, PS3 and 360, we actually have to do quite a bit of work on both the technology and assets for Wii. The investment is heavy to get it working on the Wii, but we’re committed to it as we were with Modern Warfare, World at War and Call of Duty 3. It’ll be our fourth Wii shooter. Is there another team that’s put out four Wii shooters? There probably is, but certainly not online. And look, we have a huge online fanbase and they’re playing it over and over. We obviously want to please that audience – the Wii has been great.” - Treyarch Studio Head Mark Lamia
There’s more after the break.
