Nintendo Power let this slip the other day but 5th Cell have now officially announced that “Scribblenauts 2” is indeed on its way to DS and will be available at the end of this year. Jeremiah Slaczka, Creative Director and Co-Founder of 5th Cell had this to say of the game.
“The next Scribblenauts broadens the players’ experience from the first Scribblenauts through more creativity, innovation and in-depth gameplay”
Last week Ninty showed off the latest two new entries in the Wario Ware series, one for DS one for Wii. The first is shown in the video above which is “Wario Ware: Do It Yourself” for DS and then there’s “Wario Ware: DIY Showcase” on Wii. Both games give users the chance to create their own mini-games to upload to Nintendo who will then release them for other players if they’re good enough.
DS micro-games can be transferred to other DS players and the creations can also be played on the big screen too. With thousands of people submitting new challenges all the time it could mean you’ll never get bored of the never-ending updates. Great idea.
As you know the DS is home to a massive line-up of awesome games from all genres. We reckon if it’s lacking in one area, that has to be scrolling ’schmups’ just like ‘Metal Torrent‘ here.
We loved ‘Nanostray‘ but this is looking every bit as good, if not better and reminds us a bit of cult classic ‘Ikaruga‘. Check out the eye-popping action above as this looks hardcore to the extreme!
According to CVG, The Pokemon Company could already be tinkering away with development for the DS’s successor and were supposedly the first third party to be offered the kits. However if you are holding out hope that this is the rumoured news that Nintendo will be revealing at their press conferences next week then you mght be disappointed. The source speaking with CVG said “Any kind of March announcement wouldn’t fit with the timeline I understand the second DS to be on,”, he of course is speaking of GDC in March so if it is unlikely to be revealed at that event, next week is most likely out too.
Also the DS is still selling like hot cakes around the world and while that remains true, Nintendo won’t rush to market with any new hardware.
Head inside to read what CVG have to say about DS2.
We’ve seen loads of footage for “Sonic & Sega: All Stars Racing” but the poor DS version has been left in the dark. Until now that is. We have 4.5 minutes of gameplay footage above of the DS racer and you’ll be pleased to hear that it is looking smooth and fast!
Could this possible topple the mighty Mario Kart DS? Maybe…
Nintendo ruled the roost again in the US in January, outselling all competition once again. Who said the Wii was dying? In total 465,000 Wii consoles were sold for the month and 422,000 DS systems during the period.
The latest Media Create hardware sales figures are in for the first week of February in Japan. Every console other than the PS2 had a drop in sales from the week prior but Wii and DS still dominated (if you include all DS types) in the land of the rising sun.
Here are last weeks figures. Head inside to see the week before for comparison.
Konami have announced that DS and Wii owners will be getting ‘Gormiti: The Lords of Nature‘ based on the popular Gormiti TV show. The game will onclude story and arcade modes in which you play as the character Razzle.
‘Gormiti: The Lords of Nature‘ is due for a quarter 3 release in Europe. No word on release dates elsewhere as yet.
This news may hardly come as a surprise but may make some Star Wars or Lego fans happy. You’re definitely in luck if you like both!
LucasArts have revealed the next in the Lego Star Wars saga, this time we will be battling toy Star Wars figures in the Clone Wars.
Is the Lego video game formula getting a bit tired now? We think it might be. Let’s hope they bring something fresh and new to the gameplay with this release otherwise the series could be threatened from going stale.
The latest financial report from Nintendo earlier today gave hardware shipment figures to date worldwide, but how is their software performing? As you would expect, very well. Nintendo chose to disclose software sales to date of seven key titles and top of the pile is ‘Wii Sports Resort‘ with 13.58 million copies sold. Surely then, that is a good sign that more Wii games of the future will support Wii MotionPlus? Let’s hope so.
