Nintendo have announced that they are dropping the price of all DS models in Japan and introducing three new colors for the DSi XL (LL in Japan).
There is no news of similar prices drops or new colors in the west, however with the 3DS due out later this year we would not be surprised if Europe and North America saw similar reductions at some point. Here are the details:
DSlite from ¥16,800
DSi from ¥18,900 to ¥15,000
DSi LL from ¥20,000 to ¥18,000

The fourth DS model is nearly with gamers in the US and Nintendo have released a typical press release for the event. Already released in Japan and Europe the over-size handheld has gone down well in those regions with the 93% bigger screens.
The DSi XL is out in NA on 28th March for $189.99 of your hard earned.

Giant Europeans are being reminded by Nintendo that their large DSi XL is out this week. Of course you don’t have to be a giant to have one, you might just prefer playing games on big-ish screens but having big pockets will be a bonus!

Nintendo have announced today that the latest model in the DS range – the DSi XL – is to be released stateside next month on March 28th for $189.99.
Nintendo of America’s Cammie Dunaway also mentioned that “100 Classic Books” will ship June 15th for the console priced at $19.99.

The Big N have announced the release of their big DS, the ‘DSi XL’ in Europe (known as the DSi LL in Japan), to hit shelves March 5th in red and dark brown. The inflated console went on sale in Japan last year and has been a hit with its intended older-age audience.
The Dsi XL is basically the same as a DSi but with larger screens and a pen-style stylus. The console is still down for a “this quarter” release in North America.
