Released last year in Japan, the remakes of Pokemon Gold and Silver are hitting European shores on 26th March 2010, Nintendo and the pokemon Company have announced.
Both titles have been re-built from the ground up and are designed to work to the strengths of the DS console. In addition they are going to be bundled with the same peripheral as the Japanese games, ‘The PokeWalker‘, which you can see above. The PokeWalker is a pedometer shaped as a Pokeball and help you gain experience in the game (You can read more about that here).

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have lifted the lid on when you can expect to get your hands on the remakes ‘Heart Gold’ and ‘Soul Silver’ for DS. A vague ’spring 2010′ date was given, so that narrows it down a little!

Some new details ergarding the upcoming Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver DS games has come to light. Many regard the Gameboy originals to be the best of the Pokemon series and though these are remakes of those titles, you can expect many changes to the gameplay, story and even hardware with the Poke Walker.
- You follow Entei, Suicune, and Raikou around Johto, just like in the original games. However, Eusine is stalking Suicune.
- Ho-Oh is in the Tin Tower and Lugia is in the Whirl Islands, both at Level 45.
- There is a new feature in the game called the “Pokeathelon,” which is a mini-game feature that uses the stylus.
- The Pokemon Gyms have various traps.
- Red Gyarados appears in the Lake of Rage at Level 30.
- The Kimono Girls are part of the storyline and you meet them many times.
- Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina each learn moves they could not previously learn - Metal Burst, Hydro Pump, and Shadow Sneak (respectively).
Thanks to Kotaku, we have new footage (with Japanese commentary) of DS remakes ‘Pokemon Heart Gold‘ and ‘Soul Silver‘ which mark the tenth anniversary of the original Pokémon Gold/Silver from the Game Boy.
The game is due for Japanese release September 12th and comes bundled with the ‘Poke Walker‘ peripheral. Are the new additions to the game enough to sell over 23 million copies like the originals did? Maybe.
Here’s another pre-order bonus that the world, apart from Japan, unfortunately won’t be seeing. If you’re in the region and pre-order ‘Pokemon: Heart Gold’ will get you the Ho-oh figure, pre-ordering ‘Soul Silver’ will get you Lugia and if you pre-order both games and you’ll pick up Arceus.

The Nintendo DS re-makes of Pokemon Gold and Silver will be bundled with this little peripheral, known as the ‘PokeWalker‘. It is basically a pedometer shaped as a Pokeball.
This nifty little gadget connects with your DS via infrared and you can transfer a Pokemon who is then visible on the screen. Stick it in your pocket and as you walk around the Pokemon gains experience thanks to your effort and becuase of this its affection for you will also grow.Your footsteps are converted into ‘watts’ by the PokeWalker which can be used to catch other wild Pokemon and sent back to the DS game.
No news yet on a western release but Japanese can expect the Pokeball along with the updated Heart Gold and Soul Silver games this fall.
Earlier this week The Pokemon Company announced it would be re-releasing Pokemon Gold and Silver, now titled ‘Heart Gold’ and ‘Soul Silver’ for Nintendo DS to commemorate the 10th year anniversary of the games original release.
Both titles will sport updated visuals, more content and of course DS controls. This video came from the ‘Pokémon Sunday’ show on Japanese TV and while it’s not very long at least it gives you an idea of what to expect.
The game is due for release later this year in Japan and no doubt we will have some more on these Pokemon titles come E3 next month.
Now officially announced by The Pokemon Company are the new versions of Pokemon Gold and Silver, now dubbed Heart Gold and Soul Silver.
The games will be remade to include all the added benefits of the new DS hardware including upgraded graphics, sound and new content.
The titles are due for a year end release to coincide with the 10th year anniversary of the original games release. Nintendo of America or Europe have yet to confirmed a western release though fingers crossed they do at E3 next month.
