El Segundo, Calif. – July 6, 2010 – Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced The Cages: Pro-Style Batting Practice for Wii™ is now available in retail stores nationwide. The Cages: Pro-Style Batting Practice is a fun-filled batting cage simulator that lets players test their inner slugger by swinging against numerous pitches from a virtual pitching machine across numerous mini-games.
Metal Gear Solid at E3 on 3DS was a great surprise but unfortunately the game demo we saw remains only that, a demo. It seems Konami are not saying one way or another whether they will commit to a Metal Gear on 3DS but they said feedback from the demo was good and it could happen at some point in the future.

Yep, Metal Gear Solid on a Nintendo platform – nice! The official website for the game is up but there’s not too much there at the moment.
World Renowned Stealth, Action and Sports Videogame Franchises Make Their Way to Nintendo’s Forthcoming 3D Hand-Held System
El Segundo, Calif. – June 15, 2010 – Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced five new titles, including HIDEO KOJIMA’S METAL GEAR SOLID SNAKE EATER 3D “The NAKED Sample”, Winning Eleven series / Pro Evolution Soccer series, Contra, Frogger, and Baseball (working title), that are currently in development for the Nintendo 3DS™ handheld system.
“We are extremely thrilled to confirm that Konami has five major titles in development for Nintendo’s 3DS system,” said Shinji Hirano, President for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. “Bringing popular franchises such as Metal Gear Solid, Pro Evolution Soccer, Contra and Frogger to the 3D realm is an exciting endeavor for us and we cannot wait to share more news in the coming months.”
Kazumi Kitaue, executive VP of global sales and marketing at Konami caught up with 1up and had a few things to say about the games industry as well as E3 and the Nintendo 3DS…
“Japan has about 130 million people, and I think the fact that number was able to support the huge market of the past is something of an anomaly,” Kitaue told Famitsu magazine in an interview published this week. “The US and Europe both have over 300 million people; the whole denominator of things is different. Thinking about it that way, the Japanese market may be smaller compared to its peak, but it’s still a healthy one. If anything, the Western markets have been too small up until now. Different cultures like different game genres and have different preferences when it comes to platforms. What Japanese gamers want is completely different from what American gamers want, and it’s tough to keep everyone happy. Games are always meant to be fun, but now people want more than just that. They want communication features; that’s the biggest thing. Lots of users want to interact with other people through their games, something that gamers had a tendency to shun in the past. We, as creators, have to change our style in response to that, and I think we haven’t caught up with this change in taste quite yet.”

Now it could just be us, but the look of the handling of the cars in this “GTI Club World: City Race” video looks very dodgy indeed. In fact it looks so bad it almost made us laugh!
Ok, we should reserve judgement until we play it, however the ‘sticky’ looking controls and unrealistic car movement looks like we’ll end up missing this one out. That is of course unless Konami prove us wrong with their latest Wii racer, but I reckon I’ll be sticking with Forza for the time being.
Konami have announced that DS and Wii owners will be getting ‘Gormiti: The Lords of Nature‘ based on the popular Gormiti TV show. The game will onclude story and arcade modes in which you play as the character Razzle.
‘Gormiti: The Lords of Nature‘ is due for a quarter 3 release in Europe. No word on release dates elsewhere as yet.
