This news is not official from Nintendo themselves but rather from VGC who claim that New Super Mario Bros. Wii is the fastest-selling game to reach 15 million units sold.
As you can see below, it managed this in 32 weeks on sale and beat the previous best record, held by Wii Sports, by 8 weeks.
New Super Mario Brothers Wii soared past the 15 million mark this week, becoming the fastest-selling single-platform game to ever reach this milestone.
It did so after only 32 weeks on the market, eight weeks faster than the previous record-holder, Wii Sports Resort. This makes it the sixth Wii title to reach 15 million sold, and just the 22nd game of all time to do so.
In just seven months on the market, New Super Mario Bros Wii is currently the sixth-best-selling Mario title of all time.
NSMB Wii is no stranger to breaking sales records. It sold ten million units after just seven weeks on the market, handily beating previous record holder Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas’ ten weeks.

The semi-follow up to New Super Mario Bros. from the DS was shown for the first time at E3 and most were very excited about Mario’s latest 2D platformer. While we got to see Mario in action, all we got for the new Zelda game for Wii was a mention that it was still in development and a single piece of concept artwork.
However, Nintendo Power have recently sat down with Shigeru Miyamoto to shed a little more light on both games.

These pics from Nintendo’s E3 booth uncovered by NeoGaf hide some interesting images.
Firstly there is Sin & Punishment 2 that has already been confirmed in development by Treasure and is a follow up to the cult classic on the N64, no big surprise there.
However, the second lot of images (after the jump) show curtains covering a wall that, if you look closely, seem to have coins, fireflowers and mushrooms behind them. Sound familiar? Could this be the rumoured new Super Mario Bros. on Wii? We will find out later today at Nintendo’s press conference.
