
Last weeks Media Create hardware sales are in for Japan and read very similar to the week before with the exception of the PSP which had a nice 28k increase. This has enabled it to keep at the top of the charst even if you combine all three DS interations.

PS3 saw a boost in sales in Japan last week and skipped into the Wii’s second place spot from the week before. Apart from that there is not much to report as the hardware sales stay pretty stagnant for another week.

There was nothing exciting happening with the Media Create console hardware sales in Japan last week. Literally all consoles sold a very close total to the week before with PSP still at the top and bottom, Wii in second place and DS in the middle.

The latest Media Create hardware sales figures are in for the first week of February in Japan. Every console other than the PS2 had a drop in sales from the week prior but Wii and DS still dominated (if you include all DS types) in the land of the rising sun.

Japanese hardware sales time again! The week of January 24th - 31st saw the PSP retain the top spot, though combined sales of all DS models were higher. The Wii is stll holding off the PS3 in the home console fight and the poor Xbox 360 and PSP Go make up the numbers at the bottom.

The Wii loses the top spot in the Japanese sales chart to the original PSP, while the PSPgo sits at the bottom end of the hardware chart.
Other than that DS sales declined though unit sales fell across the board in general.

The latest console hardware sales are in from Japan and unsurprisingly after the festive break see a dip in sales.
The Wii, Dsi, Dsi LL and DS Lite all sold less than the week before. In comparison Sony’s hardware managed an increase with PS3, PSP and even PSPgo.

Another month goes by and another pile of Nintendo hardware and software is sold in the U.S. Once again the DS(i) and Wii took the top two spots, selling over 922,000 units between them. The Wii has now sold over 20 million units in North America since its release.
The Xbox 360 still maintains its lead over the PS3 in third place and surprisingly the PS2 is still outselling the PSP which may see sales decline even further now the PSP Go has been revealed.

When the Wii and the wiimote first made their debut in 2006, rivals Microsoft and Sony stated that the new motion controls were a “gimmick” and a “fad” that people would soon get bored of.
In a very short time Nintendo proved both of their competitors wrong as month after month the Wii outsold both Xbox 360 and PS3 worldwide. In fact it was only Christmas 2008 that supply finally met demand which was an unprecedented achievement for a video game console.
Not surprisingly because of this success and the expanded audience the Wii created, Microsoft and Sony have announced their own take on motion controls, albeit 3 years after the Wii debuted.
Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata is not surprised by their competitors actions though he is surprised it has taken them this long to announce motion controls, let alone them being near market release:
“To tell the truth, I expected them to come up with stuff like this last year. So in my mind they’re later than expected. I’d like to say to them, ‘Welcome to the motion-control world!”
