Capcom are busy beavering away with their Wii sequel to RE: The Umbrella Chronicles with the events of the new game revolving around that of Resident Evil 2. Though there will be recognisable areas from the old Playstation game, players will also have to shoot their way through new areas using Leon Kennedy or Claire Redfield and Capcom have also stated that there will be more “main characters” from the series to choose from too.
New in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is the “evade” move which the developers have said will add to the gameplay to the on-rails shooter genre and an upgraded camera which is designed to make the player feel more immersed in the action. The game will be available later this year.

When Capcom announced their latest Resident Evil for the Wii, there were mixed feelings among the hardcore Wii fanbase. Though there was a new game coming to the system from the popular franchise, it was to be another on-rails shooter and not a ‘proper’ Resi game like the Gamecube’s Resident Evil 4. Still something is better than nothing and these screenshots of Darkside Chronicles definitely look the part.
We are looking forward to Darkside Chronicles and the fact that the game has multiple paths through it is a bonus. At the same time we are secretly hoping that Capcom will see fit to use the Resi 4 engine from the GC and make us a ‘real’ Resi game for Wii, especially considering that both console’s architecture is similar.
Or maybe we should dream on! More screenshots inside.
