It’s great to see the return of Donkey Kong and especially when it looks as good as Donkey Kong Country Returns! ONM have been talking to some of Retro Studio’s developers…
“One of the things we’ve added is multiplayer. You can do it cooperatively with DK and Diddy or separate or attached. If you have a brand new player who wants to get a feel for the game or just wants to join in the fun but isn’t quite ready for the severe challenges later on in the game, they can just jump on DK’s back as Diddy, help out with the jet back as well as use the peanut gun to fend off enemies while DK is jumping around the game.” - Retro’s Senior Director Bryan Walker
“It was a challenge taking this iconic Donkey Kong and innovating with a new control scheme, new hardware with an old favourite that everyone’s passionate about. We think we did a good job it’s a lot of fun.” He finished by saying “There’s some really cool things you can interact with and it’s like ‘Holy mackerel – I have a new DK to play!’” - Retro’s President Michael Kelbaugh
Thanks ONM

Just a quick note for those lovely Europeans among you. The ‘Metroid Prime Trilogy’ has a street date of September 4th in your region.
I’m sure you already know that the single disc release contains touched up and IR control enhanced versions of all three Retro Studios Metroid titles. Yep, you did, ok bye…
Thanks Gonintendo

All this move towards digital downloads is very nice and dandy but there’s nothing like the feel of a nice new packaged game in your hands is there? Being even bigger fans of Retro’s Metroid Prime trilogy than we are of game boxes, makes this packaging even more desirable. This is what you can expect to pick up from your favourite game retailer when the trilogy is released. The limited edition casing is made from metal and also includes a special ‘Metroid Prime Trilogy’ artbook.
Obviously the disc inside will contain the original Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes from the Gamecube as well as Metroid Prime 3: Corruption from Wii. This time round the first two games in the series will include motion controls as well as beefed up graphics, 16:9 widescreen support and faster door-loading times.
North America can expect the game to hit shelves on August 24th for $49.99, Europe and Australia are still waiting for a release announcement.
Back of packaging after the break and some lo-res screens here.
