This list was compiled based on more than 13,000 reader votes. Guinness World Records hosted a poll on their official website from January to August 2009, asking readers to choose their favorite video game franchise.

So Mario only makes number 2! Beaten by the sneaky snake from ‘Metal Gear Solid‘ Fame. As you can see the Japanese show their love for ‘Final Fantasy‘ too with many characters making the top 50. Personally I would have rated Sephiroth a bit higher. Also surprised Kirby made it to number 12 seeing as he hasn’t been in many games recently.
