Well it does in Europe atleast. The Hanabi festival is named after the infamous Japanese fireworks festivals and brings with it WiiWare downloads of games that are Japanese centric and were unavailable in Europe originally.
This year the virtual festival starts 12th March and includes games such as “Sin & Punishment“, “Lode Runner” and “Castlevania: Rondo of Blood”.
Either the person playing this is just very good at it or the game is very easy! Anyway this is the first look at WiiWare title “Darts Rage“.
The darts mini-game on “Super Monkey Ball” was one of my favorites where you held the wiimote as a dart and threw it. Not sure the controls on this game look so innovative judging by this video but let’s hope they are and it’s as fun to play as the monkey version.
Neogaf have uncovered a few new juicy details for the upcoming “Sonic 4: Episode 1” courtesy of Game Informer’s recent interview with Takashi Iizuka.
“Fans will be very pleased with the cast in episode 2.”
Episode 1 is a prologue
There will be moves such as Spin Dash, Rolling Attack, homing attack, unknown move
Izuka on homing attack: “I wanted the user to enjoy an easy-to-play feeling by the attack sequence that this [homing attack] allows, and find the fun routes in the air.”
A couple of beauties this week for download in North America from the Nintendo Download - “Final Fantasy 2” and “Max & The Magic Marker” on Virtual Console and WiiWare respectively.
Hit the jump to see the whole list of this weeks downloads.
The well-received “Dark Void Zero” from Capcom lands onto DSi’s in Europe and other PAL territories today, so if you are looking for a sweet platform-shooter you know what to do. If you don’t have a DSi then worry not, Capcom have your back with “Mega Man 10” on WiiWare. We take it you have a Wii, right? Oh good!
Other games this week in the Nintendo Download include “Bit.Trip Void” and “Real Football 2010” among others.
The next in the Bit.Trip series is “Bit.Trip Runner” and here’s some new footage to see how well the game is coming along at Gaijin Studios.
We’re fans of the old-school retro look to these games and this one doesn’t dissappoint either. Gameplay-wise this is more like “Cananbalt” on the iPhone compared to the last couple of shooters that we’ve had before.
This must be one of the most impressive looking WiiWare titles so far. Announced today by developers Shin’en is “Jett Rocket” which they describe as an “epic futuristic full 3D Action-Adventure“. Ok… sounds good to us, especially if the gameplay is as good as its looks!
No word on a release date yet but head inside for more details and screenshots or see the games website here.
There’s 8 new downloadables this week for NTSC gamers, including the quality “Let’s Golf” for DSi and “Mega Man 10” on WiiWare. Mega Man is sporting a new ‘Easy Mode’ to help make it more accessible to new gamers unfamiliar with the usual hardcore difficulty level associated with the Mega Man franchise.
This is a great idea as if you only have a medium skill level like me, you’d probably end up screaming at/beating up your TV from the sheer frustration of how damn hard it is!
Another week goes by and more games are added like finely engineered clockwork to WiiWare and DSiWare. Europeans have 8 new titles to choose from but no Virtual Console games this week. Come on Nintendo - where’s my Pilotwings 64?

Continuing their Art Style series, Nintendo have shown off a few more titles that fall under that category, one of them being ‘Art Style: Rotozoa‘ above. This looks like the perfect antidote to the hectic looking ‘Art Style: Light Trax‘ we posted earlier.
If you’re bored with all the news of ‘Super Mario Galaxy 2‘ and ‘Metroid: Other M‘ (we know you’re not really) then maybe you should try this video for size. Shown off at the media summit, ‘Art Style: Light Trax‘ looks like a fast, mesmerising and psychadelic little number. It’s headng to WiiWare later this year.
