It’s almost as if E3 has come early! ‘The Grinder’ has been revealed to IGN and is the second game to be announced for the Wii in as many days from High Voltage Software. Yesterday we learned of ‘Gladiator A.D.’ if you missed it, have a look here.
The Grinder is a wii-exclusive, blood-splattered FPS with gorgeous visuals and frantic gameplay similar to Left 4 Dead. The world in which the action takes place includes vampires, werewolves and the undead as standard. You control a team of four hunters that simply have to rid of as many monsters as possible.
Using the same engine as The Conduit and Gladiator A.D. The Grinder is said to push the graphical boundaries of the Wii to the limit. High Voltage have created a replicating system that has so far allowed up to 65 enemies on-screen at once! Though this was in initial testing, that’s pretty impressive by anyone’s standards.
As far as weapons are concerned, expect a big variety. There will be duel-wielding with human weapons such as an SMG, AK-47 and 12-gauge shotgun and also more non-traditional weapons like swords and others inspired by movies like ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’.

With The Conduit, High Voltage were ambitious with their plans for the game and also to push the limits of the Wii hardware. It seems that they have even bigger plans for The Grinder.
The game supports Wii MotionPlus and even more customizable controls than The Conduit. In addition there is an online co-op mode for four players, Wii Speak support and unlockable achievements.
The Grinder currently has no publisher and so a release date is difficult to predict though High Voltage are aiming for a holiday 2010 release.
