XSeed Games Drop Muramasa In The U.S. (Updated – New Publisher Announced)

UPDATED
The North American publisher of Muramasa: The Demon Blade – XSeed – has announced that infact it will not be publishing the title in the U.S as previously thought. Though this is not good news for those anticipating the release of the game in the west, we imaine it will not be long before a replacement publisher steps up to the plate to release Vanillaware’s title overseas.
The game received critical acclaim in Japan and entered the Japanese charts in second position, however maybe XSeed have been panicked by the recent poor sales of ‘mature’ Wii and DS titles. Hit the jump to read what XSeed had to say on the matter.
“XSEED Games confirms that it is no longer involved with the North American release of Muramasa: The Demon Blade. XSEED Games and Marvelous had previously announced the game as part of the initial line up between the two publishing partners. We firmly believe in the product and will look forward to seeing it release in North America. We enjoy and respect our relationship with Marvelous, and are committed to working together to deliver an amazing line up of games in the US including the highly anticipated Little King’s Story, the epic RPG Arc Rise Fantasia and Suda51′s intriguing mystery adventure Flower, Sun, Rain.”
I for one will be gutted if this does not make release in the west as it is one of my most anticipated titles of this year for the Wii. What are your thoughts, tell me below.
UPDATE – Great news! It has been announced that Ignition Entertainment will now be releasing Muramasa in North America with a planned September 2009 release. Atleast I will be able to sleep again at night!
